Frans, met you in Moncton N.B. during your training camp. I was one of the drivers and still is a LOYAL ISLANDERS fan. Things seems to go better this year. I’ve been a ILANDERS fan since day one when they joine the league. I am a ZAMBONI driver and once in a while i drive around with my flang (islandera)attached to a hockey stick and my jursey on when flooding the ice. Kids love it! Good luck!

Hey Frans, I know your not responsible, but this “lockout” is totally a bunch of bull crap for the fans of the sport. Top flight players salaries are higher than ever and the owners want more of a percentage…etc
As a fan and a paying supporter, I think it’s disgusting that the “league” is more than ready to SACRIFICE a healthy chunk or the whole entire season, money will always be the root of all evil in my humble opinion.

Being a Flames fan, I haven’t really watched your play. I have heard many great things about you but have never really gotten the time to actually see the things you have done. Now that I have seen your stats and some stellar plays on youtube, I am a little ashamed that I honestly hadn’t considered you as the great player that you actually are.

My mother’s parents came from Denmark to the USA 90 years ago, but we still go back to visit relatives in Herning and Kobenhavn (Hockey Shoppen!). They keep us posted on Blue Fox happenings! We used to live on LI, but now live in NJ, so we’ll have to see you when you play the Devils. We’ll wear our DK hockey jerseys! Look for us!

Been an Islander fan since birth! These are what we would call the lean years, however I see the light at the end of the tunnel with some high quality players signing long term deals, Frans would be one of those high quality players. (Can’t wait to see Ryan Strome here as well.)
The Islanders are very close to turning the corner and when they do they’re GOING to shock a lot of people… This is a high class organization that is going to return to greatness very soon, it may happen in a different city but it’s going to happen.
Keep up the good work Frans, you’re a very good player and I for one am glad you’re here on the Island. When this team hoists the cup again (5) yes a grown man will likely shed a tear of utter joy…

Great signing Congrats. Been a long time Islander fan (early 80s) and not many of us come from Nova Scotia Canada. I watch pretty well all your games and I can finally say after so many years I now have confidence in the Islanders. A hard push for the playoffs could get you in this year but next year if the team plays the same way you will make it. Best of luck.
Hej Frans. Endnu et tillykke med kontraktforlængelsen. Som tidligere nævnt så er det kun et spørgsmål om tid før du vinder Selke-trofæet. Er i lidt af et dilemma. Islanders ser jo ikke til at være ude af playoff billedet, men det danske landshold kan og må bare ikke undvære dig til vm. Selvom det kunne være fedt at se dig ‘performe’ på den største scene i maj/juni måned.

Hi Frans. Tillykke med din karriere ikke minste som den beste dansk ishockey spiller nogensinde, men som en elite spiller på verdens plan. I played with your dad, Frits, back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is a lot of fun for me to watch your play because you are such a slick player and it brings back great memories of the days when I got to sit on the same bench as your Dad and watch him work his magic. Keep up the great work. Your best has yet to come. And say hi to Frits and Hanna from Kris and Gitte.

I ‘ll write the rest in English, so everybody can understand. Thank you for the great game in Minnesota last night. I’m a native of Denmark but I have been living in Minnesota for about 18 years. My wife and I take our two sons to Wild games somewhat regularly, and we especially try to get to the games when one of the teams with Danish players come to town.
My youngest son, Teis who is a 7 year-old Mite player here in Winona, MN, has been hearing and talking about “the Danish backhand of doom” since he first saw highlights on TV and NHL.com last year. He was hoping to get to see the signature backhand move livel last night. He stood up in our section 122 seats right behind Backstrom’s goal and chanted “Fransi, Fransi” as you approached the goal–and when he saw the puck go in on the top shelf, he jumped up in celebration. Everybody around us was looking at him wondering why this little boy wearing a Wild sweater (and holding an little Islanders banner) was so ecstatic. He proudly announced to somebody who asked that number 51 is his favorite because “he is the best and from Denmark like my dad.” It was great to see him so excited. He talked about the goal all the way home (we live an hour and half’s drive from St. Paul).
Thank you for making his day. He now wants a Nielsen Islanders jersey for xmas.
I have to say I was excited too. I am from Aalborg, and when I was 15, I was one of the many Aalborg fans who made the trip to Copenhagen and Rødovre Skøjtehal, 30 years ago, in 1981 when your Dad, Frits, was captain of the AaB Ishockey team winning the Danish championship in the final game of the season. So, this was a special moment for me as well.
